Well done in protecting an important ecosystem. Sometimes people just need educating.

I see the workmen regularly and they always give me a big smile and a wave. ❤️

How wonderful! We've just moved to Devon and I love the deep dark hedgerows here. Already on the tops of the moor roads, the signs of autumn are arriving. My son has just got planning permission and one of the conditions is to include and maintain hedges with a certain number of particular local varieties, which delighted me.

Gosh that delights me too. I think Devon has the best hedgerows in the UK x

Lovely read and I am so glad you stopped the council cutting the hedge down.

I don’t really care if they think I am a bit bonkers 😂

I would hope that the parks and gardens council workers would have managers who are educated in understanding 'the bigger picture' of how important hedgerows are. In early Spring our local council let the grass grow and held back on pruning back shrubs, trees etc. To give the bees a chance. However May was only half way through when out came the machinery, cutting grass, etc. The little help the bees got didn't last long. You are not bonkers simply being responsible towards nature.
