What a beautiful post. It brought on a bit of nostalgia for the hight of summer when our wild roses, honeysuckle, lavender and tomato plants were filling the air with beautiful scents.

Very relaxing, thank you! We were visiting the Rose Garden at Drum Castle today in Aberdeenshire. So few had a perfume, we were wondering if the overcast sky and the start of rain perhaps caused this. Do flowers give off a scent in the dry sunshine? Thank you Fiona!

Yes they do but more acute sometimes in damp conditions. Many cultivated roses no longer give scents sadly. Look for the wild ones xx

How lovely! My son and I have been walking around our community every evening to see the fireflies, but lately we've been exploring what scents we can identify. It's really magical walking at this time of day when the world dims and we have to rely on our other senses, such as sense of smell more. The lilies are in full bloom now and are especially fragrant and gorgeous in a moon garden.

I have a moon garden but it needs some attention. Useful prompt from you, thanks so much xx

This is a beautifully evocative piece of writing Fiona. I could almost smell the plants with you. I too enjoy the different scents in the garden. I also love it when you walk through a forest and suddenly get a beautiful waft of sweet scent. I can rarely find out where the scent comes from, so I think of it as the trees saying ‘hello’ as I am passing!

Lovely piece - just what I do too - at my allotment- raspberries are having an amazing year, but squashare struggling. I use herbs to enhance my Tai Ji Qigong Classes during the Autumn & Winter (FeeltheFlow Substack - free videos)

I relate to your writings ✍ & often sit with the plants allowing their wisdom to write through me. Waving at you from West Kilbride 👋
