Who am I?
I am a seasonal artist living and working on the Isle of Arran off the west coast of Scotland. This is the space where I will be sharing my seasonal creativity. You are most welcome to wander along with me.
I am also a mother of four grown up children each finding their own way in the world. At the age of 38 I quit my education job in a university and moved my family to the Isle of Arran off the west coast of Scotland and have never looked back. I retrained from performing arts into visual arts and have exhibited within Scotland and beyond. I am now living a much gentler life. Substack has given me the gift of ‘reflection’ at a time in my life when I want to give back. I have worked in the arts my entire life but it is my role as a teaching artist that has spoken the loudest to me. This is the place to share.
Every new writing goes directly to your inbox and you can read at a time that suits you.
Why Subscribe?
This is a space to meander away from the complexity of the modern world. I use it as a space to share my seasonal creative journeys as they unfold. The hope is that these journeys will spark new creative journeys in others. I believe that it is important to leave the world better than you found it so it is about authentic human legacy. My free subscription wanders through the seasons sharing my activities and my reflections on those activities. My paid subscription (£6 per month) offers folk the chance to create seasonal book arts with me or simply to bounce off my pages into their own seasonal art bubble. It includes -
Vlogs at the beginning of the season setting up our new project
Blogs/vlogs updating progress
Reflective blogs where I unpack my pages and the journey through the season
Visual galleries to support seasonal creative journeys
In essence, I like to think you are in my studio with me and we are creating and chatting inspired by the shifting seasons. This, however, is not a community space as I see book arts as a deeply personal creative pilgrimage. So there is no sharing, no comparison and no white noise. There is just you, me and our seasonal creative journey.
Where else can you find me?
I have a fantastic Patreon community where we wander through the seaons exploring our creativity supported by online meet ups, vlogs, blogs and more. I also have an ETSY store that sells handmade items (UK only) and digtial workbooks (worldwide).
