We have had a run of unexpected weather. The islanders are all wandering about a little unsure of a time where the sunshine and blossom have arrived at the same time. Normally, when the blossom arrives so does the rain and in a few short days it is gone. Not this year. This year the whole island is shining like never before and, those of us that live here, feel like we are in paradise. I am quite sure we are.
The Isle of Arran is a small Scottish island with about 5,000 residents and about 50 miles right round the coastal road. It is home and I feel very blessed to live here. I am a seasonal artist which means that I get to revisit, and often. In 2023 my wee Blossom and Bloom collection was really well received so I thought I would revisit again this year to pay homage to the best blossom in my own living memory.
Whenever I jump off an art journal page my work is all the better for it and last year I ended up with two art journal pages dedicated to this special time of year.
The joy is being able to refer back to this inspiration before nudging the work on a wee bit. Last year I immersed myself in collage art, not a genre that I was very familiar with but one that I grew to love. I never throw anything away so this year it was simply a matter of grabbing the bits and pieces of collage papers left over from last year and seeing where that took me. So far I have created a set of hand painted sketchbooks and some collage greeting cards with tags. I am, once again, inspired by the theme of blossom and the prolonged period of sunshine has made it extra special.
In my garden my two apple trees are just coming into blossom and one of my hawthorns is also in flower. Hubby and I are both 60 this year and the children were asking what we wanted as a gift. We have asked for more fruit trees for our embryonic orchard. Of course we have……I hope you have blossom in your world. x

Your work is lovely! And thank you for the glimpse of Arran, for those of us who'd love to visit but are far away.
