Welcome to my wee corner of Substack. I am a seasonal artist living on the Isle of Arran, off the west coast of Scotland. I am the custodian of approximately two acres of land that includes a woodland, a meadow and my wee garden. I offer a seasonal book arts project for paid subscribers if you are interested and you can read more about that HERE. Grab a cuppa and lets delve into our relationship with the shifting seasons…
I have been running my seasonal creativity Patreon community for two and a half years. In that space we spend time together in zoom exploring seasonal projects that inspire our creativity. This experience is then supported by vlogs/blogs, silent studio zooms and creative cafes. It is a super space and the best community I have ever worked with.
Since adding Substack into my life I have also created a creative space for folk to wander along with me creating projects focused on book arts. This paid subscription space is NOT a community. It is a space for us all, as individuals, to explore our creativity. In my experience of teaching book arts projects the most rewarding outcomes come from quiet contemplation away from the white noise that can occur in the virtual world. Since beginning this offering in the summer last year more and more folk have joined me to explore their seasonal creativity.
So, in essence I already offer multiple ways to explore your seasonal creativity -
My free Substack offerings
My paid Book arts Substack offerings
My Patreon offering
I have also produced printed seasonal zines that I sell on my Etsy store.
Increasingly, folk have asked for seasonal ezines that allows people from outside (and inside) the UK to have more seasonal projects to explore in a time that suits them entirely. I have managed to create time for this new offering by slightly shifting my Patreon space. I have created a graphic so folk can see what I offer in my Patreon community space.
The community aspect stays the same but it now pivots around a seasonal ezine that we spend the season exploring together. I am delighted to share that I can now offer this ezine as a standalone option for people that would prefer just that as a resource.
My first seasonal ezine ‘A time to Renew’ is now available HERE. I hope that covers all options of how folk like to access content. I understand that not everyone likes subscription offerings so I hope this is helpful to those folk, in particular.
I have been an environmental and seasonal artist for over 20 years having retrained at night school from performing arts to visual arts. My initial training was in textile art but, over the years, I have become more of a mixed media artist. This spring offering has a particular focus on art journaling, collage and stitching although there are also other projects included beyond these three main elements. With a theme of ‘renew’ I share my passion for repurposing and upcycling.
I hope that this additional offering is useful and that everyone now has access to my seasonal creative projects. May I take this opportunity to thank everyone who supports my work and I hope your new season brings you much joy.
